Overview
Yen Son Heaven Gate (also known as Hong cave) is a massive rock arch located in Yen Son Commune, Huu Lung District, Lang Son Province. This area is characterized by its rugged terrain, featuring sheer cliffs and sharp, jagged rock formations.
Khuon Bong cave is a masterpiece of natural sculpture, holding profound mysteries deep underground. The cave entrance is modest, resembling a fissure in the limestone cliff, making it difficult to spot. However, it opens into a vast and ethereal space within the mountain, complete with an underground river approximately 3 km long and an exceptionally impressive system of stalactites and stalagmites.

Itinerary
Prepare for an exhilarating and unforgettable adventure as you conquer Yên Sơn Sky Gate! This thrilling challenge will have you experiencing a 90-degree descent down a sheer cliff face, suspended between the “sky gate” at a height of approximately 120 meters.
- 06:00 AM: Your guide will pick up the group at the designated meeting point. Depart for Yên Sơn Sky Gate. (Breakfast will be provided en route.)
- 09:00 AM: Arrive at the base of Yên Sơn Sky Gate. Prepare your equipment and ensure you have enough water. Begin a light trek through the custard apple orchards to reach the Sky Gate.
- 10:00 AM: Receive instructions on equipment usage and practice essential techniques before officially beginning your abseiling challenge to conquer the Sky Gate.
- 11:00 AM: Check in at the mountain peak and commence the abseiling challenge down to the Sky Gate.
- 01:00 PM: Enjoy lunch and take photos.
- 02:30 PM: Trek down the mountain. The group will then transfer by car to Phoenix Cave (Hang Phượng Hoàng). Check into your accommodation and freshen up.
- 06:30 PM: Dinner will be served at the restaurant. A briefing for the next day’s itinerary will also be provided.
- 08:30 PM: Free time. We recommend getting an early night to rest and prepare for the next leg of your journey.
The Khuon Bong Cave expedition is an exhilarating and challenging adventure. Participants will face demanding trials, including a 60-meter vertical abseil into the cave, trekking, and swimming through an approximately 3km underground river.
06:00 AM: Personal hygiene and breakfast.
08:00 AM: Depart by car for Khuon Bong Village, Vu Le Commune.
08:30 AM: Receive equipment and attend a final safety briefing and a detailed orientation on cave exploration.
09:00 AM: The expedition begins! Trek through forest trails to venture deeper into the jungle.
10:00 AM: Reach the cave entrance and begin abseiling into the cave.
11:00 AM: Enjoy lunch inside the cave.
12:00 PM: Start the 3km trekking and swimming journey through the cave, which includes:
- Admiring the magnificent world of stalactites.
- Immersing yourself in crystal-clear calcium pools.
- Swimming in the underground river.
- Navigating a secret crack within the earth to reach Phoenix Cave (Thai Nguyen).
03:30 PM: Exit the cave. The group will enjoy a herbal bath to relieve fatigue, followed by a light snack.
05:30 PM: Depart by car for Hanoi.
