On August 13, 2021, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Ha Giang Province presented a report on the current situation of adventure tourism products in the province.
The report highlighted that Ha Giang is a province with favorable conditions for developing adventure tourism products, with advantages in diverse terrain formation combined with attractive landscapes. Notably, the UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau and the national scenic heritage of Hoang Su Phi terraced fields have long been attracting the attention of tourists with unique and distinctive tourism products.
In recent years, Ha Giang Province has conducted surveys and experiments with various adventure tourism products, such as motorcycle and off-road car racing in Yen Minh and Hoang Su Phi districts, kayaking across the waterfalls in Minh Tan, Vi Xuyên district, paragliding in Hoang Su Phi, Quan Ba, and Dong Van districts, mountain climbing, cave exploration, and ecotourism in primary forests.
The report also clearly states the current situation and the plans and projects for the development of adventure tourism in Ha Giang Province. Specifically, the Paragliding Project in Hoang Su Phi district is being implemented in Nam Pien Village, Nam Ty Commune, and Lang Giang Village, Thong Nguyen Commune, all located in Hoang Su Phi district. The project has conducted trial flights and is currently in the process of completing investment documentation and obtaining operational permits.
Another project, the High-altitude Zip Line Entertainment and Adventure Journey Project in Bac Me district, is being developed at the Pa’ Piu Resort, in Bac Biu Village, Yen Đinh Commune, Bac Me district. It features a zip line system with a length of 60 meters and an average height of 20 meters above the ground, with a total investment of 50 billion VND. However, this project has not yet been approved by the relevant authorities for business operation due to incomplete evaluation of the business conditions.
It is known that the overall development plan for Dong Van Karst Plateau National Tourism Area in Ha Giang Province until 2025, with a vision to 2030, was approved by the Prime Minister in 2017. The plan identifies the construction and development of the Tu San and Ma Pi Leng Gorge areas into an adventure sports zone covering an area of 20 hectares. The direction for developing adventure sports tourism is based on exploiting the challenging terrain conditions in the Tu San Gorge and Nho Que River areas, offering activities such as Zipline, Bungee, paragliding, adventurous kayaking in Nho Que River, and hot air ballooning.
The Ha Giang Tourism Sector Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, also envisions developing various types of adventure tourism suitable for the resource characteristics and exploitation conditions in certain potential localities of the province. These include paragliding in Quan Ba and Xin Man, off-road car, motorcycle, and mountain biking in Yen Minh and Xin Man, professional mountain climbing, cave exploration in San To (Meo Vac), Kho My (Quan Ba), Khun Cave (Quang Binh), Zipline products in Phia Dau Tourist Site (Bac Me), and Lung Ho (Yen Minh), adventurous kayaking in Du Gia Waterfall (Yen Minh), and various exploration activities in nature conservation areas throughout the province such as Du Gia, Chi San, Bat Dai Son, Ma Pi Leng, Phong Quang, Tay Con Linh, and Bac Me.
In recent times, to tap into the potential strengths of local adventure tourism, Ha Giang Province has collaborated with enterprises to organize motorcycle and car racing competitions (Yen Minh district), implement paragliding projects (Hoang Su Phi district), and collaborate with Lao Cai Province to organize mountain biking races from Bac Ha (Lao Cai) to Xin Man (Hà Giang).
